Yesterday started off good. I had OT, and I started PT twice a day. I can feel some slight breathing improvements. I went shopping and got a pedicure. We were then heading out on the patio for our pizza and ice cream party when i slipped on water and hit my head on the marble steps.   I got five stitches, a pretty hair cut, and a lovely head bandage. Just trying to make things interesting here. Not feeling too bad this morning. I slept good last night. Pain medication will do that to you. I only had to wake John up once at 3am. Just relaxing today.

Busy…Busy today. I had OT and PT this morning. Just got done with my first procedure. I had four shots in the caudal (near the tailbone). I then had to lay on my side for 4 hours. Glad to be up now.

Well, we finally made it here. My visa arrived the day before we left. That was a very close call. It has been quite an adjustment to the 9.5 hour time difference, but after 1 week, I have finally slept through the night for the first time. I am not really loving the food. Tomorrow we are going to venture out the nearest TGI Fridays. I think I will manage to find something to eat.

Hello, let us introduce you to John and Jennifer Joyner and their two precious daughters Sarah, (3) and Amanda, (7 mos.). The Joyners live in McDonough, GA and were working hard to realize the American dream when tragedy struck. Jennifer at age 36 was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) a deadly neuromuscular disease that has no cure. This disease ends the life of 80 percent of those diagnosed in three to five years. Jennifer will experience deterioration of her muscles to the point that she will no longer be able to care for herself or her family. Presently, she has lost the use of her left arm with weakness beginning in her right arm, and she fatigues easily. This loving mother can no longer hold or play with her daughters without the assistance of others.
The Joyners are blessed with a very loving family, great friends, and the prayers of thousands of well wishers. They have God in their corner and now they need your help to give Jennifer a chance to continue being here for her family. Though there are no cures for ALS, there are alternative treatment programs that have proven to benefit many ALS patients by both improving their quality of life while extending their lives significantly. Most are not covered by insurance. However, these treatments do come with a heavy price tag and involve significant travel dollars. Your donations, no matter how big or small, will help offset some of these expenses and allow her to pursue treatment so that she can continue to be here for her family for years to come.
We will continue to update this site so that you can trace Jennifer’s progress.
Please make your donation to Jennifer Joyner 395 Kelly Road McDonough, GA 30253 or to joyneralsfunds@hotmail.com via paypal.com.
Log onto the ALS website to learn more about this deadly disease and see how you can join others in finding a cure.
The family will be eternally grateful and may God bless you all.
